Held

Enough said?! This Linnet was singing its heart out in the heat of the day. I wish I could have captured the song. The complexity of its voice was absolutely wonderful.

The linnet held me and I’ve held the moment in a photograph; job done!

Held in the blink of a shutter. But it drove me in a line of thinking around that word, held. Here are some words from Deuteronomy 33; 27 in the Old Testament; ‘The eternal God is your dwelling place and underneath are the everlasting arms.’ Held, by God; not lost or forgotten, or passed over or given up. All things, The Linnet in it’s own place and existence, is held. Our very great friend, Valerie, who died yesterday, held.

Just one more verse from the Psalms, (Psalm 42;7-8) if I may: ‘Deep calls to deep at the thunder or your cataracts; all your waves and billows have gone over me. By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.’

Its just worth taking a moment to reflect on how those words speak to you. It’s not a cop out from me, but I just sense that we each need to take a moment to pause and allow the words to whizz around our consciousness. JUst make a note whenever you sense something; a word, or phrase or memory. Allow yourself to be held even when things may be in turmoil…the waves and billows are part of creation and the Psalmist assures us of God’s steadfast love and even a song that can touch our hearts,

Peace and blessings,

Barrie
