Thirsty

I have no idea where I took this photograph. It is clearly an artificial watercourse, created by a human agent. The play of light on the culverted water draws the eye to the end point, which speaks more of infinity rather than ending.

I use the title as a means of focussing my thinking. Here are some words that Jesus spoke;…’Let anyone who is thirsty come to me…and drink…out of their hearts will flow rivers of living water…… ‘. The apostle John, who wrote these words, added helpfully; ‘…he said this about the Spirit….’

God’s Spirit, available to all. Taking the step to refreshment in these difficult. days we are passing through. It almost seems too good to be true. A simple offer.

Dare we take the step to find out? The water in the photgraph continues to a vanishing point; it has an endless feel to it, almost limitless.

For me that is the simple offer that Jesus Christ holds out to the world. Let the Holy Spirit of God refresh your your days and moments. Jesus’ words above have a limitless edge to them. It is for us to take our step and acknowledge our own thirst. Let the Spirit of God wash over you!
