Jesus said…’ whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Powerful words from the heart of Jesus, to a woman who was drawing water from a well. A simple interchange of thoughts and ideas as they met at the well, but with a profound twist to the way in which Jesus identified where the water he offered came from.
This was water for the soul, the refreshing gift of the Holy Spirit to all people. Not a gift for the exclusive few, but deep down refreshment, offered to all people, without barrier or rules. Just the response of the hearer; you and I.
As this day develops for each of us, the plans, the hopes, the fears , the longing, there will be times when we might feel ‘drained’, needing resfreshment. Jesus simply offers us the refreshing of the Holy Spirit; like drawing water from a well, or a tap. The quenching of our ‘dry’ moments.
No questions, no worthiness test, just a simple offer from the heart of God into our hearts; your heart…the refreshing outpouring that comes with no strings attache!
