Jesus said; “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” This photograph I took a few days ago, shows squally rain showers drenching the good folk of Alnmouth!
It just got me thinking about about how so much of what Jesus said was rooted in the everyday, which is experienced by each of us. It is easy to make things complicated and make it inaccessible, but I am a simple soul who reacts to what is seen or felt or sensed; as it is for each person reading this .
The deluge of rain that was passing over Alnmouth, lasted for a moment, and it then travelled on into the North Sea and disappeared. It lasted a moment but gave up its life giving water to the land.
This resonates with me on many levels and I’m not sure what I want to say. We are surrounded by ‘experiences’ each day. Sometimes they are very real and can be easily understood, other times we become confused and uncertain. Just to go back to the opening words from the heart of the Son of God, I just want to note and highlight one thing…‘rivers of living water will flow from within them….That is a powerful image and speaks of the Holy Spirit…the one who makes real the words that Jesus spoke.
Refreshment from the heart of God!
