“Sometimes I sits and thinks, and sometimes I just sits.” These words are attributed to American baseball legend, Leroy Satchel Paige. I think the sentiment is absolutely wonderful and very profound.
It encapsulates all I try to communicate through my blog, each day. I am no expert in contemplation or prayer or stillness, but all I offer comes from my heart and my disparate thoughts. Leroy Page, nails it in one!
The sitting and thinking is easy to do. The chatter in my head never ceases, much of it like the ebb and flow of the sea, as we see in the photograph. We actually have to make a deliberate effort to just sit, and ‘be’. Trying to still our minds and the ambient noise in our consciousness is sometimes impossible.
To even have a moment of ‘just sitting’ is soul filling.
Just take a moment to look at the photograph I took a few evenings ago, as the tide rolled in and the sun was setting. In the ‘just sitting moment’ try and still your heart and soul and sense the still small voice of calm…God’s presence though the Holy Spirit.
