The Cross

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

The Words of Isaac Watts and the Hymn, ‘When I survey the wondrous cross…’

Love and sorrow and the depth of God’s reaching into our lives and moments.

Enough said.

Bless you,

The long and winding road….

An invitation to make a step and see where it leads!

Easy to stay where you are. I write this whilst the wind blows outside and the clouds roll in from the North Sea. I’m warm and have no desire to move!

There are many things happening for each of us and reaching out and walking on the long and winding Road seems like a step too far from what I regard as security.

My experience is that unless I make the step then I’m stuck!

Underneath it all, woven into the fabric of life, are God’s everlasting arms.

For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.…..

Words from the Apostle Paul on this Christmas Eve.

The figures are deceptive; made out of sheet steel and placed on the sand with the outgoing tide.

Very powerful imigery as we try to fathom out our own faith. All is not what it seems. That is the joy of faith on each of the journeys we travel along, Sometimes lost, sometimes interpreting and missing the point…but thats OK.

The figures draw us in, even though we know that thet are not actual human beings. God draws us in, not out of deception, but of a profound love.

May this Christmas time be a blessing on your journey homeward!!

Enbrace the illusion and find the thruth!

Old stone bridge. Who, or what on earth was EMO and what does the date stone indicate? 170 years of existence and the footsteps of many. Names lost to the mists of time.

How does it make you feel as you reflect on the photograph? I have a sense of longing for something that I cannot express or verbalise. The word, recognise, comes to the fore. Our, my need to be seen, heard, but already known to God!

Not cast adrift on a vast sea, but walking across an old decaying bridge which connects me, you, with our different sides. Surrounded with the love of God, in every moment, every breath, every sight.

Step out and embrace hope, pouring from the heart of the Creator…!!!!

The shades of autumn; decay with the promise of new life. A time of waiting in the photograph I took a couple of weeks ago.

Some words from Hebrews 19, verse 8; ‘Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever…’ A simple enough phrase, but a tresure chest of possibilities for each of us, whatever is happening in our lives.

Without the decay of the leaves in the autumn, there is a lack of nutrition for the growing of the new leaves in spring. There is a connection here with our own lives. The daily changes and challenges. Woven into our lives is the promise of Hebrews 19.

Everything changes except the truth of the statement that Jesus Christ is with us now and forever.

Hope, not fear…..

God speaks in the uncertainty. Words of hope, not fear.

Wandering and finding; mist, and tree on a hill (photographed a couple of days ago) Seems like a beginning, not an ending, all is held in the love of God.

You and I whoever we are, wherever we have failed, forgiven and given a new vision, within the God of Love, who endlessly suprises each of us.

I find it difficult to be solitary, but the tree anounces the possibility of new horizons and new life out of what seems to be an ending.

Take your step this week, with the love of God surrounding you and the uncertainty of the moment, when it arrives. God bless you in your moments and in the steps of uncertainty.

God’s love is found in unlikely places and moments.

Blessings and waterfalls of peace be woven into your minutes, hours and days…!!!

‘When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honour. Psalm 8; 3-6

The earth and night sky. Too much to take in even with a photograph! More questions than answers; the reality of being human!

But a place of contentment even in the complexity. We do make our own sense and understanding which can bring us some degree of peace. But sometimes never complete answers or no answers or more questions!!!

We sometimes have to be content with what we understand in the moment, even if it seems incomplete or annoying.

God calls us as we observe all that we hear and see and sense each day. He crowns us with glory and honour. Truly a new way of being, if we grasp the enormity of this simple phrase and give God thanks within our moments and days.
