At the end of the narrative about creation in Genesis, we read these words; ‘God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.‘
This is a photograph of a friends’ dog, a Shar Pei, devouring an ice cream! Bo (the dog’s name) is an interesting character and clearly loves ice cream. He has the most amazing short haired coat, which looks like an ill fitting garment that needs a good iron! Perhaps one day he will grow into it…but then he wouldn’t be Bo the Shar Pei! We all like him just the way he is…
Anyway, seeing truly is believing with Bo! The diversity of creation manifests itself to each of us every moment of every day. Every bit of the created world has the imprint of the divine mind and creation which reaches into our hearts and souls constantly. We almost need to remind ourselves to say thank you.
Your uniqueness is a gift from God, as is everyone elses. Sometimes this can be difficult to hold onto when we see what humans are capable of doing to one another. But I have a profound sense that God does not abandon any part of the creation. Go back to those words from Genesis; they are deeply moving. Nothing is lost or given up in God’s love for the whole of creation.
