We worry about all kinds of things. Health, wealth, the past, present and future. So much so, that for my character type, I’m worried if I’ve got nothing to worry about!!! Very frustrating, but I learn to live with it.
Here are some words of Jesus to his constantly worried followers: ‘Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?’ Is this the answer or the start of more questions? Both- and, is what my answer would be.
I believe that Jesus was getting the disciples then, and us now, to look beyond their own needs and wants; to consider the reality, not the chatter inside our heads. We all construct our own world view, but we need to look broadly. The bottom line being that we are held within the love of God, as is the whole of creation, and nothing is lost or cast aside or forgotten.
The sea bird in the photograph is as much a unique part of the creation and evolution of the universe, as we are. There is massive assurance in these words of Jesus for the whole of the universe and beyond.
