Looking ahead.

Today marks the anniversary of the first ‘lock down’. How life has moved and changed in this period, and we still have much to face.

We are also in the period leading up to Easter, culminating in the death of Jesus on the cross, and his resurrection. The picture above focusses our vision and thinking in a moment of time, captured by the photographer.

There is a real sense of ‘longing’ and hope as I contemplate what is before me. The empty cross as a symbol of both pain and hope and new life. A sign of the depth and breadth of the love of God. Love without limit, over flowing like the torrent of a waterfall; everything caught up within it, and nothing excluded.

Try and image your own self in place of the figure standing with arms outstretched. Make a connection with your thoughts or impressions, or words. Write down what lingers in your head, even if it seems insignificant.

May the Lord bless your unique contemplation, and fill you with the joy, love and hope of the Holy Spirit.
